Jira → tasks. And the resources? Who is booking and where is it visible?
Booking resources is chaos… Meeting rooms, equipment, parking spots — everything gets booked in chats, in someone’s head, or on scraps of paper.
So what's the result:
– Meetings overlap – Equipment isn’t available when it’s needed – Deadlines get missed – And worst of all: it’s impossible to quickly see where things went wrong
We've noticed this in many teams. And even where processes are fine-tuned, Jira is in place, and tasks are automated, resources are still handled manually.
❌ Jira doesn't handle physical resources.
It's great at solving tasks, but it doesn't know what a meeting room, projector, or parking lot is.
This is a system gap that is being closed by third-party services, Excel, chat bots - whoever can.
Here are the actual requests from teams:
✅ Parking - is it possible to book spaces with a split by slot (morning/afternoon), availability display and booking limits? → No, have to find workarounds.
✅ Access cards - need a visual calendar with booking ahead. → Only through external tools or complex automation.
✅ Service vehicles - how to avoid double booking? → Manually check numbers, dates, try scripting.
✅ Equipment in lab - want to see busy/free status directly in Confluence. → There is no native solution.
And there are dozens of such examples.
Jira knows how to manage tasks, but it doesn't manage resources. And this is also part of the project.
💡 We thought: what if we could make booking simple, native and visual? Without crutches, without switching to third-party services - directly in Jira or Confluence.
Now we are testing different approaches, automating scenarios and collecting feedback.
